Key Responsibilities
- Write software that will be used in production and make a meaningful impact on Stripe's operations.
- Provide and receive technical feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
- Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams to proactively seek and incorporate feedback.
- Communicate the status of your work effectively and ask great questions to ensure rapid learning.
Minimum Requirements
- Strong foundation in computer science, demonstrated through pursuit of a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in computer science, math, or a related field.
- Some experience with programming (through side projects, coursework, or internships). Stripe works with Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go, but they believe languages can be learned if fundamentals are solid.
- Experience working on multi-person projects (open source contributions or internships) that involve feedback and collaboration with peers or mentors.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly through research and mentorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of university education or equivalent work experience.
- Specialized knowledge in one or more areas, balanced with general technical skills.
- Experience writing high-quality pull requests, good test coverage, and completing projects with minimal defects.
- Familiarity with navigating and managing your work in codebases with multiple languages.
- Strong written communication skills for explaining your work to stakeholders and teammates.
